Still, it took over a day to get it good enough to paint. The sun bakes these (and all other) plastic parts. The cure to 45 years of sun and rough treatment is problem plastic-a super adhesive. It fills and glues the parts back to life. Then, standard body filling techniques. Then glossy black paint.
