4/16/09: Prepping door opening for sand blasting the rust

Rust removed in door opening area

Volvo used both lead (light grey material in this photo) and brass (yellow material in the photo previous to this one) to smooth out transitions in ajoining body panel seams. Polyester filler-although used in the repair industry when these cars were made, was not yet used at this factory.

As bad as this looks, this area is now free of rust and can be repainted.

Touch ups in the drivers door opening-was badly rusted before

Brake pads, gauge o-rings, wheel bearings, defrost hoses, radiator hoses, heater hoses, emergency brake shoes, coil wires, heat and defrost control cables, fresh air vent hoses, temperature controller, heat controller (Ranco) valve

Thermostat housing, brake flex lines, accessory belts, a-frame bushings, steering rod, lower ball joints, idler arm bushing, emergency brake warning light switch, heater control cable

 

Some of the parts which were replaced on this car were baked to the point of non reusable.

This goober will be touched up before the new door gasket is installed.
